Hare and Tortoise is an award winning game designed by David Parlett. Although Hare & Tortoise uses dice, this is only a minor part of the game for players a long way behind to give them a chance to balance the game. There have been several different versions of the board but the squares stay the same. The players race to get carrots that are used for movement but it is easier to get more carrots the further behind you are. There was a ten year gap between the first world championship won by Chris Dixon and when it was won by David Pearce in the year he won the Pentamind. The more observant player might wonder why there hedgehogs on the boards. This is due to translational differences in German from the classic fable.
